Windows 7 KB977074 Update Fail and Solution
I’ll write this entry in English because I couldn’t find the solution even in English all around the Internet. A few days ago I tried to update my Windows as I do regularly. I checked updates and saw there is an update with the code KB977074. I tried to update but after reboot, update process is failed and windows reverted update configurations and rebooted itself again. I tried a few times but it kept failing. Then I researched, but found nothing. I saw a lot of people have been suffering from this issue, but no solution suggested, even by Microsoft.
Here is the solution: First, type ‘cmd‘ in start menu, it will find ‘cmd.exe‘, right click on it and run it as administrator. A command prompt should appear now. Type:
sfc /scannow
then press enter. It will take a while, and I should warn you, you will be caught after this process if your windows copy is not genuine. When process is complete, restart your windows then install the update MANUALLY! To do so, go to this address, choose the correct architecture for your Windows ( I mean 32 or 64 bit ). Then download and install it. It will reboot one more time after installing update. And when windows is booted, you will see that update is configured flawlessly.
To avoid all these, install Linux :)
